World AIDS Day 2011 The Sage Colleges is proud to celebrate a very special day that has been dedicated to advocating, educating, and engaging our communities. World AIDS Day is an annually recognized event that places a needed emphasis on HIV and AIDS locally, nationally, and globally. December 1st of each year marks this important day and The Sage Colleges has proudly been doing active and passive programming each year to better our campuses and the local community. HIV/AIDS has impacted all of us in one way or another! World AIDS Day allows us to reflect on the importance of educating ourselves on all aspects of this healthcare crisis.

Observe: World AIDS Day 2011
8:00am to 4:00pm: Empire State Plaza Convention Center, Albany, New York
The New York State Department of Health will host its 13th annual display of panels from the NAMES Project AIDS Memorial Quilt at the Empire State Plaza Convention Center. The day long event is free and open to the public. Sage students can ride the CDTA Bus to the event for free with our universal CDTA Access program.
2011 Annual Advocacy & Activism Forum
3:30pm to 5:00pm: Upton Center, Hart Hall, Russell Sage College Campus
Sage proudly welcomes keynote speaker Dorse Boone, a 14-year survivor, activist and advocate for the HIV/AIDS community. Boone will be introduced by her daughter, Sage College of Albany student Daysha Brown.
Boone is a longtime member of the Schenectady Damien Center and has dedicated her life to educating others in the fight against the spread of HIV & AIDS in our community. She has spoken regionally and across New York State.
Know Your Status: HIV Testing
12:00pm to 3:00pm: Troy Wellness Center, Russell Sage College Campus
Confidential and free HIV testing in collaboration with the New York State Department of Health. Testing will be provided at the Troy Wellness Center location from 12:00 - 3:00. No appointment is required.
World AIDS Day Red Ribbon
World AIDS Day red ribbons can be picked up from both the Student Life Offices and Wellness Centers on both the Albany and Troy campuses the week of World AIDS Day 2011. The ribbons are free and can be worn to show support of the efforts that are being taken to end HIV & AIDS in our community and around the globe.
