Geneva Sayre Lecture Series: The Who, What, Where and Why of Being a Forensic Scientist

Allison Eastman, Ph.D., JCA '73 worked in the biomedical sciences before joining the New York State Police as a forensic scientist in 1995. After retiring from the police in 2008, she served as laboratory director at the Forensic Identification and Profiling Laboratory in Waterford, N.Y and then joined the University at Albany's Department of Biological Sciences, where she helped develop its master's degree in Forensic Biology. She has promoted the advancement of forensic science at the national level by serving as manuscript reviewer for the Journal of Forensic Sciences and on committees for the American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors Laboratory Accreditation Board and the National DNA Indexing System Audit Review Panel.
