The Sage Colleges have hired Ardelle Hirsch, most recently from FOX23, as the new director of media and public relations.
Hirsch, formerly the director of community and client services at FOX23 in Albany, brings 14 years of media, public affairs and marketing experience, as well as extensive community involvement, to the position.
Hirsch will be charged with significantly increasing the presence and visibility of the Sage Colleges and will play a pivotal role in the integrated marketing and communication efforts at the Colleges as a senior member of the Office of Communications and Public Relations. The Sage Colleges include Russell Sage College for Women in Troy, NY, and the coeducational Sage Graduate School and Sage College of Albany.
Hirsch created and implemented the long-range marketing plans at FOX23 which contributed to establishing FOX23 News as the most-watched late, local news. She also created and produced numerous public service campaigns, community events and special video projects. Prior to that position, Hirsch created the public affairs program, FOX23 in Focus, which she hosted and produced for 10 years. She also reported and executive produced for several televised specials.
Hirsch has received both local and national recognition for her broadcast efforts. She has received two national Telly Awards as well as a local NORI Award for excellence in broadcasting. She has also been recognized for Making a Difference by the Ad Council and received the Councils NYS Silver Bell Award.
Previously, Hirsch taught English, Public Speaking and Theater Arts at both the high school and college level, penned a weekly column for a local newspaper, and has had several feature articles published. She received her B.A. in Education/English at SUNY Plattsburgh and has done graduate work in Humanities at Hofstra University in Hempstead, NY. She lives in Delmar, NY.
