The Sage Colleges is pleased to welcome nutrition expert William Dietz, M.D., Ph.D. Dietz, director of the Sumner M. Redstone Global Center for Prevention and Wellness at the Milken Institute School of Public Health at George Washington University, will deliver the 2016 Nutrition Lecture on Monday, March 14, 2016 at 7 p.m. in Schacht Fine Arts Center on the Russell Sage campus in Troy. He will discuss the obesity epidemic and changes at the national, state and local level that suggest we may be making progress when it comes to controlling the epidemic.

Scrimshaw today presided over the release of a National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (formerly the Institute of Medicine – IOM) report on A Framework for Educating Health Professionals to Address the Social Determinants of Health. Dr. Scrimshaw, who is Co-Chair of the IOM/NAM’s Global Forum on Innovation in Health Professional Education, is in Washington, D.C. and chaired today’s discussion and presentation of the findings of the report.

In celebration of Women's History Month, Lori Quigley, Ph.D., dean of The Sage Colleges Esteves School of Education will give a presentation on the pivotal traditional roles of Haudenosaunee women—from the role of Sky woman in the Creation Story to their role in Jigonsaseh, the formation of their Great Law. The presentation will take place on Thursday, March 3, from 5:30-7 p.m. in the rotunda of Albany City Hall.
