Sage Participates in the Third Annual MLK Jr. Day of Service
Albany & Troy, NY – Sage students, faculty and staff spent Martin Luther King Jr. Day (Monday, January, 17) volunteering their time to a number of deserving organizations throughout the area.
More than 75 members of the Sage community participated in the annual MLK Jr. Day of Service. As they have in years past, volunteers spent the day preparing and serving meals in Albany and Troy soup kitchens and with some of the children at the Boys & Girls Club of Albany and Parsons Child & Family Center.
These activities also provided a great way for Sage College of Albany students to work towards their 1000 Hour Challenge. At the start of the academic year, students pledged to complete 500 hours of community service during the Fall, 2010 semester and another in the Spring, 2011. This student-led initiative provides an opportunity for those involved to become active participants in their neighborhood, to address the needs of the Albany community and to give back to those in need while developing their academic skills.
