Sage Moves Up in Forbes List of America's Top Colleges
TROY, N.Y. –Russell Sage College is included once again in Forbes’ annual ranking of the 650 best undergraduate institutions in the United States. Russell Sage moved up 40 points from last year to #362 in the list this year.
The rankings profess to focus on “educational outcomes, not reputation” and are prepared exclusively for Forbes by the Center for College Affordability and Productivity, a Washington, D.C. think tank founded by Ohio University economist Richard Vedder.
“Without putting undo weight on such rankings, Sage is gratified to be recognized for not only its intensified focus on student outcomes but its longstanding commitment to the ‘practical liberal arts,’ as preparation for the work place and advanced professional study,” said Sage Provost Terry Weiner.
“The institution’s focus on collaborative research between faculty and students, represented by its growing involvement in the National Conference on Undergraduate Research, is an important factor in the leap in the national rankings. Add to that its commitment to “living within its means,” which has led to a balanced budget that has allowed it to maintain extremely low increases in tuition while providing a level of financial assistance that means students graduate without crippling financial debt, and Sage is not surprised that its strengths are being recognized. “
