Albany & Troy, NY - Sage is proud to announce President Susan Scrimshaw's selection as the “Women of Excellence” award winner in the Distinguished Career category.

Seven women who have achieved success in their professional careers and dedicated themselves to community service will join the prestigious ranks of the Albany-Colonie Regional Chamber of Commerce’s “Women of Excellence.” The honorees will be celebrated at the 21st annual luncheon on June 13th.

The Chamber received numerous nominations of members and non-members. A committee of previous Women of Excellence award recipients made the selection.

“The Women’s Business Council is extremely proud to have the opportunity to recognize and honor these exceptional women from our business community,” said Sarah Johnson, WBC chair. “This year’s winners are all highly individualistic and multi-faceted in their accomplishments. They truly personify excellence in their careers, their community and the inspiration they bring to everyone around them.”

Several current and former Sage trustees and prominent alumni wrote supporting President Scrimshaw’s candidacy. “As much a recognition of President Scrimshaw's remarkable career – with years more to go! – when I explored the nomination with her, Susan saw this accolade as a celebration of Sage’s successes too," said Vice President Dan Lundquist.

Describing President Scrimshaw as “more than just a president, a 'Woman of Supreme Excellence,'” board chair Donna Esteves describes her as “a leader and role model whose outlook and style brought to the colleges what was needed to bring us into the 21st century.”

“This year’s Women of Excellence Award honorees are worthy recipients who demonstrate strong commitment to work, community service and their families,” said Mark Eagan, Chamber president/CEO. “They have distinguished themselves among their peers and are setting an example for everyone in business by enjoying professional success and personal fulfillment. We are proud to honor them as Women of Excellence.”

In addition to President Scrimshaw, this year’s honorees include: Joanne Kugler (Chief Information Officer, GE Energy Power and Water Business); Susan Commanda (Chief Executive Officer, Hudson River Community Credit Union); Lauren Payne (Principal and Co-Founder, Spiral Design Studio); Milinda Reed, Esq. (Director, Domestic Violence Services, Unity House); Carrie Hillenbrandt (CMP, Corporate Director of Sales and Marketing, BBL Hospitality); and Sara Brenner, MD, MPH (Assistant Vice President of NanoHelath Initiatives; Program Director; Assistant Professor of Nanobioscience, College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering).
