Albany & Troy, NY – The Sage Colleges art programs have once again received 10-year accreditation from the National Association of Schools of Art & Design (NASAD), which establishes national standards for undergraduate and graduate degrees and other credentials.

Sage’s programs covered by the prestigious NASAD accreditation include several Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) programs in the Visual Arts Department at Sage College of Albany – including majors in Fine Arts, Graphic & Media Design, Photography and Interior Design – as well as the Master of Art in Teaching (M.A.T.) program in Art Education offered through the Esteves School of Education at Sage.

“We are extremely proud that the excellence of our programs in art has once again been recognized by an external and highly regarded accrediting organization and by peer institutions,” said Sage Provost Terry Weiner. “It is through the hard work and dedication of the faculty and staff in these departments that our programs continue to be of the highest standards.”

“We are thrilled that the NASAD Commission on Accreditation voted at the April 2012 meeting that Sage’s art programs remain in good standing, and commended The Sage Colleges for our thorough response,” said Sarolta Takacs, dean of Sage College of Albany.

The Commission’s main role as a professional accrediting agency is to improve educational practices, maintain high professional standards in art and design, and establish a level of excellence among most major art programs in the United States.
