Theatre Institute at Sage Presents Lord of the Flies
Troy, NY – The Theatre Institute at Sage brings Lord of the Flies to the Schacht Fine Arts Center stage, February 6-17. [PLEASE NOTE: Public performances on Friday, Feb. 8, Saturday, Feb. 9, and Sunday, Feb. 10 have been CANCELLED due to the weather.]
Based on the novel by William Golding and adapted for the stage by Nigel Williams, Lord of the Flies tells the story of a group of boys stranded on an island, struggling to survive and govern themselves. The production explores power, ritual and ultimately humanity in all of its best and worst aspects.
The cast includes members of the Sage Male Acting Apprentice Program, Mathew McFadden, Kevin Mitchell, Nick Martiniano, Brandon Hansen and Austin Lombardi. They’re joined by several young actors from the Capital District and David Baecker, associate professor of creative and performing arts at Sage. Lord of the Flies is directed by David Bunce, artist-residence with the Theatre Institute.
Lord of the Flies is recommended for grades 6-12, due to adult themes and violence.
