She brings a wealth of experience and knowledge on many levels from administration to research and community outreach. Her vision and enthusiasm will be a wonderful addition to The Sage Colleges.”

“I am proud to be joining The Sage Colleges because I will become part of an institution that has creatively remained ahead of the curve in educational innovation for almost a century,” exclaimed Susan Beatty.  “That is an awesome legacy to inherit, and I look forward to keeping Sage out in front as we enter the next centennial!”

As Dean at Portland State University, Beatty worked with faculty to establish new degree programs, certificates, schools, and online offerings. Beatty is also a geographer who conducts research in the areas of forest ecology, soil science, climate, and conservation. Her research has been funded by grants from the National Science Foundation, The Nature Conservancy, the National Academy of Sciences, and the National Park Service.  She has a long term research site at the Huyck Preserve in Rensselaerville, NY, and has been collecting data there since 1977.
