A talk and installation walkthrough with Ken Ragsdale and Michael Oatman will begin at 6:30pm, accompanied by an installation process video by Kelly Jones and Jacqueline Lynch and the exhibition catalogue release.

Showing of the new documentary film “The Great Confusion: The 1913 Armory Show” and introduction and discussion with its director and producer Michael Maglaras.

PERFORMANCE Friday, November 1, 6pm and 7pm
Puppeteer Ed Atkeson will give two live performances of his production “Man at the Controls”. Performances will start at 6pm and 7pm and run approximately 15 minutes.

At 7pm, Melody Davis reads from her new book, Holding the Curve, Broadstone Books. Poems in this collection have won awards from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Pennsylvania Arts Council, and the book was a finalist in the National Poetry Series.

WORKSHOP: Dreaming with Clay, a Children’s Art Workshop
Saturday, March 1 10:30am - 12:00pm
A workshop inviting children to participate in creating a mobile inspired by the work of artist and Sage faculty member Kelly Jones. Children will view her work in the current exhibition Perceptions and then be shown how to create a mobile using 3-D modeling of clay to explore figurative movement. Children will be encouraged to create figures displaying movement inspired by favorite hobbies or from imagination.

This exhibition showcases the best high school art in the Capital Region. This juried show represents entrants in grades 9-12 from high schools in Albany, Schenectady, and Rensselaer counties.

A love story set in the southern USSR in 1946, Expiation examines the realities of the Soviet life as a town tries to come to grips with the aftermath of war.

FILM: Sosua: Make a Better World, Wednesday, April 2 at 7pm
directed by Renee Silverman. Sosua tells the story of Jewish and Dominican teenagers in New York City's Washington Heights, who together with the legendary theater director, Liz Swados, put on a musical about the Dominican rescue of 800 Jews from Hitler’s Germany. Award winning filmmakers Peter Miller and Renee Silverman interweave an intimate, behind-the-scenes portrait of the neighborhood with this little-known Holocaust story.

Made with Mexican-American residents of Iowa with no prior acting experience, the film is a rural coming-of-age drama about circumstances, American aspirations, and the effect of family ties.
WORKSHOP: Collage & Create
Opalka Gallery, on the campus of Sage College of Albany, will be hosting the second children’s art workshop of 2014 on Saturday, April 12, 2014.
WHAT: A workshop inviting children to make their own collage art by using paper, fabric, and found objects. Children will have the opportunity to view the 15th Annual High School Regional exhibition at the Opalka Gallery and get inspired to create their own imaginative artwork.
