These research opportunities support studies that aim to increase understanding of the causes of suicide and factors related to suicide risk or to test treatments and other interventions designed to prevent suicide.  This year’s Suicide Research Priority Area is anxiety disorders or alcohol and other substance use disorders either alone or in combination with other comorbid disorders.  A suicide outcome measure must be included.  Submitting treatment feasibility studies or adding a suicide component (e.g., sample or treatment) to an existing grant are also acceptable. Research applications in priority areas will be reviewed along with all research grant applications however, strong grants in priority areas may be given priority over similarly reviewed grants that are not in the priority area. However, all applications related to preventing suicide are encouraged and welcomed.
