Summary The priorities of the foundation are to (1) assist financially disadvantaged families who need assistance in caring for their children with autism spectrum disorder (through nonprofit autism organizations), (2) fund education and advocacy for individuals with autism and (3) support therapeutic, recreational and social skills programs. The grant supports community organizations that actively assist children and young adults with autism spectrum disorder and their families through direct family support; safety equipment; respite services, recreational programs, social skills training, and other opportunities that will enhance the quality of life for those affected. The grant will also support education and advocacy programs for individuals on the autism spectrum; community awareness initiatives; educational opportunities for families and professionals who work in the field of autism; and scholarships for students pursuing a degree in the field of special education, specifically developmental disabilities.
