Title  Private Higher Education
     The Arthur Vining Davis Foundations
Eligibility   Private four-year residential, liberal arts institutions which place a strong emphasis on teaching and whose students choose majors primarily in the arts and sciences
Due           Rolling
Duration    one year
Budget      up to $250,000
Summary  The Foundations generally support schools of broadly acknowledged academic excellence and a solid record of financial strength with outstanding support from trustees and alumni/ae. A few grants are made to larger teaching and research universities with a national reputation for excellence in undergraduate education.  Competing requests are evaluated on two primary criteria: 1) the educational impact and lasting value that a proposed grant would have on the student and faculty experience and 2) overall quality of the institution.  Trustees have no particular preference for the type of project.
Other       The process of moving from proposal submission to grant approval takes time. Therefore, the Foundations are not able to meet requests for eligible projects requiring immediate or near-term funding.
