GA Line: Generic Drugs on the Rise
Approximately four out of five prescriptions are now filled with generic drugs. Generic drug companies have been found to delay a product's release, allowing brand-name companies to maintain monopoly longer. As a result, both companies benefit financially while consumers are left to read the labels. Court rulings have determined generics manufacturers are preempted from consumer claims. With generic drugs on the rise, will patients be liable for most of the harm caused by prescription products?
