Application Procedures

To assist students and parents in meeting the cost of an education at Sage, Student Services makes available a variety of scholarships, grant, loan and employment programs. Funds from these programs are sponsored by federal, state and private sources in addition to a commitment of more than $5 million from The Sage Colleges.

Eligibility
Those seeking consideration for aid must be enrolled as matriculated (degree seeking) students on at least a half-time basis (6 credit hours per semester for undergraduates, 4.5 per semester for graduate students) to qualify for most financial aid programs. Most grants and scholarships provided directly by The Sage Colleges require full-time attendance. United States citizenship or permanent resident status is an eligibility requirement for all programs. It should also be noted that federal and state legislation frequently modify requirements and eligibility standards for financial aid.

Application Procedures
Because financial aid is awarded on an annual basis, these procedures must be followed each year. While admission is not required to initiate an application for financial aid, new students will not receive confirmation of their status until the Office of Financial Aid Services is notified that the admission process has been completed.

  1. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) should be completed and mailed in the envelope provided as soon as possible after January 1 (but not later than March 1) preceding the academic year for which assistance is requested. The form is available in high school guidance offices and from Student Services. Note: The specific Sage college in which the student is interested should be listed on the form to ensure that results are received by the appropriate financial aid office.
  2. New York State residents should also complete the application for the Tuition Assistance Program (TAP). The pre-printed TAP application will be mailed to the student from New York State Higher Education.
  3. When requested by Student Services, submit all pages of completed tax forms for applicants in all cases and parent(s) when the applicant is dependent. A Verification Worksheet should also be submitted when requested:
