Apple OSX Network Access
Joining an Apple computer with OS X. to the Sage Student Network
Sage now uses web authentication instead 802.x to log onto the Sage Student Network. Below are directions for both wired and wireless. If you have are still having problems connecting to the Sage Network, after you have done everything the instructions say, please call the helpdesk at (518) 244-4777.
Wired:
1. Make sure you are using DHCP
2. Under System Preferences choose Network
3. Choose Ethernet on the right column
4. Using the drop boxes by Configure choose Using DHCP
5. Open Safari and you will be redirected to a login web page.
6. Put in your SageNet username and password
7. Done!!
Sage now has two wireless networks for students. The first Network is Sage-Open, the traffic on this network is unencrypted. The second network is Sage-Secure, the traffic on this network has WEP encryption.. We recommend if you are using sensitive information (passwords, shopping, etc..) use the encrypted wireless or wired networks.
Wireless:
1. Under System Preferences choose Network
2. Choose AirPort on the right column
3. Using the drop down box next to Network Name one of the sage wireless networks Sage-Open or Sage-Secure (please read the comments below for the secure network).
4. Make sure you are using DHCP
5. Under Advanced -> TCP/IP tab
6. Using the drop boxes by Configure IPv4 choose Using DHCP
7. Apply your settings
8. Open Safari and you will be redirected to a login web page.
9. Put in your SageNet username and password
10. Done!!
Sage-Secure
When using a Apple Computer, OS X incorrectly chooses the wrong encryption for the Sage-Secure network. To get around this issue use the following directions below.
1. Click on the Airport icon
2. Click join other networks
3. Type in Sage-Secure
4. Under Security choose WEP Password
5. Type sage-spring08 in the password box
6. Click join next time all you have to do is choose Sage-Secure, password will be cached.
