NameConnector
The NameConnector service acts as The Sage Colleges main receptionist. This new and innovative service allows callers to speak the name or department they wish to call and then be automatically connected. NameConnector uses voice recognition software to connect your call.
The system can be used from any phone by dialing 2000 if you are on campus or by dialing (518)244-2000 if you are off campus. Then follow the prompts of the system. If you are familiar with the prompts, you can press the * key at any time which brings you directly to the option to say the name.
Tips and Tricks:
- Speak naturally - It is not necessary to insert pauses between words.
- Speak directly into the phone - Try not to speak with the telephone under your chin. Do not use speaker phone.
- Be aware of background noise - Background noise may affect response time and recognition accuracy. In situations with heavy background noise (like cellular phones or speaker phones) you may have to speak louder or get closer to the phone.
- Press * to cancel and say the name you want again if the NameConnector recognizes the name incorrectly.
- Try using a persons formal name - (Robert Smith, rather than Bob Smith) if the person you are calling has a nickname. The NameConnector may not have a nickname registered. Contact the Helpdesk to add a nickname to NameConnector.
- If errors - If you find an error in the system, please contact the Help Desk at 4777 so that the problem can be resolved.
