Relationship Violence and Sexual Assault

Relationship violence is not limited to someone hitting you; violence occurs on many levels, including sexual, emotional and physical. It can consist of someone threatening you, intimidating you into unwanted activities, verbally abusing you, isolating you from your friends and interests, or taking away your ability to make your own choices.

The Sexual Assault Care Center of Rensselaer County maintains a satellite office in The Sage Wellness Center. A sexual assault counselor is available there for students to speak to every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Appointments are preferred, but are not necessary.

All services are free and confidential. The services are available regardless of when the assault or abuse took place and whether or not the victim reported it to the police. The sexual Assault Care Center also has speakers available to present educational programming.
