WORLD Conference
Spring 2009 WORLD Conference: Monday, April 27, 9 am - 3 pm
WORLD = Women Owning Responsibility for Learning and Doing
The WORLD Conference takes place at the end of each semester. Students in the paired General Education courses Women in the World (WLD 120) and Women Changing the World (WLD 420) present a sample of their work. The WLD 120 students offer posters, demonstrations, and oral presentations. The WLD 420 students worked on an academic service learning change project and will present an overview of the human rights issue, background on their community partner, and the specifics about their action project.
Conference Sessions are located in:
- The Helen M. Upton Center for Womens Studies
- Buchman Pavilion
- Gurley Hall
- Hart Hall
The WLD 120 students will present posters beginning at 9:20 am in morning sessions and afternoon sessions at Buchman.
The WLD 420 students will present their change projects beginning at 9:15 am in concurrent sessions at Upton and in Hart Hall (Career Center Conference Room).
Throughout the day, light refreshments will be served in the Allies Caf of the Upton Center, where WLD 120 students will also be presenting their Cultural Traditions & Food Demonstrations between 11 am and 12 pm.
WLD 120 oral presentations will be held in Gurley 104 between 1:20 pm and 3 pm.
The Russell Sage Chamber Ensemble will perform at noon in Buchman Pavilion.
