Student Sage Award
Purpose:
The Student Sage Award is a recognition program that enables your secondary school to honor an outstanding woman from your school community with this prestigious nomination. Recipients of the award will receive a Student Sage pin, a certificate of nomination, and an invitation to Russell Sage College Student Sage Scholars' Day during their senior year. Russell Sage College will work with you to honor the nominee at your school's honor/graduation ceremonies and in your local newspaper. The student nominee will be eligible for a scholarship, ranging from $7,000-$16,000 per year, to Russell Sage College. All nominations must be confirmed by our scholarship committee.
Criteria:
Schools should select a woman from the junior class who embodies the Russell Sage College motto:
"To Be, To Know, To Do."
- "To Be"Candidates should be academic and social leaders who:
- Make the classroom exciting and industrious.
- Lead debate on critical issues
- Possess powerful communication skills
- "To Know"candidates should be top academic achievers who:
- Have maintained a B+ average or better.
- Rank in the top 25% of their class.
- Have received at least the national average on standardized tests
- "To Do" candidates should "put their knowledge into action" and be women who:
- Are involved in the community and are able to balance numerous activities with enthusiasm and leadership
- Desire to lead the school/community in ways that improve the community's well-being, growth and communication.
- Are motivated to serve and inspire others to develop and grow
You, the School counselor and/or School Scholarship nomination committee, select ONE nominee by April 4, 2008. (Late nominations will be accepted, but not guaranteed confirmation by your awards night). To nominate a candidate, please submit all of the following:
- The Student Sage nomination form
- A transcript, through five semesters
- PSAT or SAT scores

Russell Sage College confirms selection of the nominee and invites the student to Student Sage Scholars' Day, held in the fall of the student's senior year. All confirmed nominees receive a Student Sage pin and certificate.
Opportunities for High School Students:
Early College Program
The Early College at Russell Sage was launched in Fall 2003 for talented high school juniors considering college enrollment instead of their senior year. The program also serves home-schooled students who may be advanced in their study and ready to move on to college regardless of their age.

College Study Opportunity Program
Sage invites qualified, motivated high school juniors and seniors to get a head start on college by earning college credits, at a cost substantially below regular rates ($50 per credit hour).
