Academic Support Services
Russell Sage College students can receive valuable support to help them achieve success in their academic careers. At the Academic Support Center, students can receive tutoring, learning style assessments, assistance with time management and other study skills, and help with writing from the Writing Studio. The ASC is located on the 3rd Floor of the Shea Learning Center (formerly the library).
All RSC undergraduate students can request a tutor through the Academic Support Center in the Shea Learning Center (3rd Floor). We offer one-on-one tutoring and study groups for specific classes (at the 100- and 200-level). Students may request assistance by stopping by the Academic Support Center and submitting a Tutor Request Form. Please note that upon submission of the form, students will be notified via email about potential drop-in study sessions or study groups to meet their needs, typically within 2 business days. If students are requesting assistance for less popular courses, it may take a little longer to secure a tutor, so students should plan in advance if they anticipate needing assistance. We do not offer tutoring for every course, so please review the list of courses on the tutor request form carefully. There is no charge for our academic support services. Note that students should not view tutoring as a substitute for consulting with their faculty member, who often can be the best resource.
We offer a variety of Drop-in Tutoring Sessions, mostly in 100- and 200-level science and math courses. Students do not need to make appointments in advance for these sessions. Tutoring begins each semester during the second week of classes. Please check the current Drop-in Tutoring Schedule and note that it is subject to change based on tutor availability.
Both undergraduate and graduate students can get help with writing projects at the Writing Studio located on the 3rd floor of the Shea Learning Center. Stop by or call 244-2272 for an appointment.
First Year Study Skills Workshop Series

First Year Students can attend these to meet some of their first year seminar requirements. The comprehensive list of all workshops varies from semester to semester. Students are encouraged to sign up in advance to guarantee a seat at the workshop.
