Message from the Associate Dean
Welcome to the Sage After Work program at the Sage College of Albany. We appreciate your interest in our program and we look forward to working with you to design a student-centered pathway to success.
Sage After Work offers a select range of relevant courses and programs for working professionals interested in continuing their education beyond the two-year degree. Our program is the ideal choice for students pursuing job advancement, professional development, or a career change. In addition, we prepare students for further study, beyond the baccalaureate, in Sage Graduate School. This is also the perfect place to be if you are intellectually curious and would like to take courses for personal enrichment and lifelong learning.
Current trends in higher education show that more adults than ever are returning to college to complete their education. Our degree and certificate programs are designed especially for working professionals and returning adults. We keep pace with future trends as well, by offering degrees in such dynamic areas as: Business, Accounting, Nursing for Registered Nurses, Crime and Justice Policy, Legal Studies, Psychology, Social Studies, Computer Information Systems (CIS), and Computer Network and System Administration (CNS). In addition, students have the option to pursue a classic liberal arts education in Liberal Studies or an innovative self-directed curriculum in Interdisciplinary Studies. We also offer certificates in Web Site Design and Administration, Computer Network Support, Computer Business Applications, and Pre-medical Studies.
Our experienced and dedicated faculty understand our students and consistently develop exciting courses that enrich the program. In spring 2008, for example, our faculty will be teaching such timely classes as The Modern Middle East, Advertising and Promotion, VoIP Technology, Web Site Development, and Criminology. Sage After Work courses are scheduled at times that are most convenient for working professionals: in the evening, on the weekend, and during the summer.
We know that our students value their face-to-face interactions with faculty and peers in the classroom but they are also interested in enhancing these experiences through online technology. We provide a balance between in-class and online learning with Web-based tools such as Moodle (the learning management system), CampusCruiser (the Sage Intranet for email and online groups), and SageAdvisor (for course registration and grading). If you feel that you are not that comfortable with technology, you will gain new skills here, and if you work with technology every day, you will be right at home with such current online resources.
Everyone involved in Sage After Work, including faculty, administrators, and staff, is interested in providing our students with the best education possible. We all work as a team and we are committed to academic excellence, student success, and to building a strong campus community.
