CLA+ Assessment for SCA Seniors - SP 2016

For SCA Senior Level Students (87+ credits) who began at Sage as Freshmen
Testing period: March 28, 2016 to April 28, 2016
*Individual appointments available based on proctor and room availability

CLA+ and SLE Assessment (Two parts)
Part I: CLA+ Collegiate Learning Assessment
Part II: SLE, Scholastic Level Exam

Collegiate Learning Assessment (CLA+) is an assessment given to students to help Sage Faculty assess general education and to improve overall curriculum, teaching and learning. The  (CLA+) is an performance based online assessment that measures critical-thinking, problem-solving and written communication skills.  The assessment consists of: "real-world situations in which an issue, problem, or conflict is identified. You are asked to to address the issue, suggest a solution, or recommend a course of action based on the information provided."

The CLA+ assessment is online and takes approximately 75 minutes to complete. The SLE supplement (Part II) is also online and takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. 

SENIORS selected will be notified via email re: testing days & times.

  • Testing begins: Monday March 28, 2016
  • Froman Hall 2nd Fl., Albany Campus, 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM
    • Students will be pre-assigned to a testing time.
    • Make up dates: April 4, April 11 and April 18
    • Individual appointments, M-F, available based on proctor & room availability.

The CLA assessment series is administered at SCA every other academic year beginning in fall 2013.  Based on the bi-annual testing plan below, incoming new first time freshmen complete the assessment in fall and senior level students who began their studies at Sage as freshmen complete the assessment in spring.  Sage faculty will analyze overall group results to determine if curriculum enhancements are needed.

Fall 2013: New SCA freshmen students *completed
Spring 2014: SCA senior level students *completed
Fall 2015: New SCA freshmen students *completed
Spring 2016: SCA senior level students *in progress
Fall 2017: New SCA freshmen students
Spring 2018: SCA senior level students
