CLA+ and SLE Assessments
Part I: Collegiate Learning Assessment, CLA+
Part II: Scholastic Level Exam, SLE

The Collegiate Learning Assessment (CLA+), created by the Council for Aid to Education, is an performance based online assessment that measures critical-thinking and written-communication skills.  It is a mandatory test given to students to help Sage College of Albany faculty improve curriculum, teaching and learning.  The CLA assessment series is administered at SCA every other academic year beginning in fall 2013.  Based on the testing plan below, incoming new first time freshmen complete the assessment in fall and senior level students who began their studies at Sage as freshmen complete the assessment in spring.  Sage faculty will analyze overall group results to determine if curriculum enhancements are needed.

The CLA+ assessment is online and takes approximately 75-90 minutes to complete.  The SLE supplement is also online and takes approximately 10 minutes to complete.  Freshman students selected for mandatory exam will be notified via email.
