CLEP Exam Information

CLEP exams are computer-based college level subject tests offered at numerous college and universities through The College Board. At Sage College of Albany, CLEP credit is regarded as 2-year level credit. Up to sixty 2-year level credit hours may be applied towards a bachelor degree. Transfer credit is awarded for a CLEP exam score of 50 or higher. See below for more information on CLEP procedures... how and where to take CLEP exams.

CLEP EXAM GENERAL INFORMATION

>Approximate cost for each exam: $85.00 ($70 registration + $15 college test center fee).
CLEP credits transfer in to Sage as 2-year level credits. (Up to 60 two-year level credits may be applied toward a bachelors degree).
>Transfer credit (see reverse side) is awarded for a CLEP exam score of 50 or higher.
CLEP exams are computer based and you will receive an instant score report. A CLEP exam usually takes about 90 minutes to complete.
>The Sage Colleges transfer credit permission form is required if a student takes a CLEP exam after he/she matriculates. Be sure not to take an exam in a subject that you have already received credit for.
>Repeating examinations: You must wait six months before re-taking an exam. Scores on tests repeated earlier than six months will be canceled.

COLLEGE PROFICIENCY EXAMS (CPE)

Credits from the CPE program, sponsored by Excelsior College (formerly known as the Regents External Degree Program), are available in the same manner as for CLEP. The maximum number allowed is 60 credits hours toward baccalaureate degrees.
