Sophomore Year
Meet with a Career Counselor at the beginning and end of each semester to update your career plan
Participate in at least 1 community service activity each semester

Continue to add material to your portfolio
Seek leadership positions both on and off campus
Conduct Informational Interviews
Begin exploring networking groups for both your field and the area in which you want to live
Participate in Job Shadow experiences

Explore internship opportunities

Browse career binders for relevant part-time and summer employment opportunities
Work: part-time while in school, full-time during summer break - For Summer... gain "Relevant Experience"
Junior Year
Meet with a Career Counselor at the beginning and end of each semester to update your career plan
Do an internship! It is essential in today's job market
Continue involvement in volunteer/community service activities
Update resume and cover letter
Continue to add material to portfolio
Continue to seek leadership positions
Develop professional networking skills
Do a mock interview
Continue to attend career events and job fairs
Enhance computer skills
Network!
Graduate School Bound?
Explore graduate schools and programs - online
Take required exams, ie, GRE, GMAT, MCAT, LSAT
Talk to faculty and career counselor
Choose top 3-5 schools and request info/applications
Be aware of APPLICATION DEADLINES!
Senior Year
Meet with a Career Counselor at the beginning and end of each semester
Do an internship! Many result in future job offers
Update and fine tune resume and cover letters
Complete portfolio
Attend career programs and all applicable job fairs
NETWORK!
Contact Student Services to request official transcripts
Compile references and letters of recommendation from professionals in your field (e.g., professors, employers, internship supervisors, advisors, etc.)
Graduate School Bound?
Write graduate school essays and have Career Planning and the Writing Center proofread!
Complete graduate school applications
Assemble all materials and submit at least two weeks BEFORE deadline
