Graduation Checklist
Before completion of 87 credits (senior status), review your Transcript and Academic Program Evaluation Report (in SageAdvisor) and consult with your Faculty Advisor. Discuss with him/her your graduation status, future course planning needs and career goals.
Graduation/Diploma Application
All SAGE students must declare their intent to graduate by submitting a graduation application form and processing fee to the Office of Student Services.
Deadlines:
- February 1 for May completion
- June 1 for August completion
- October 1 for December completion
Students enrolled in internships, externships, clinicals, student teaching, practica, or courses at another institution which are scheduled to end within one month after conferral date must supply the Office of Records and Registration with documentation of satisfactory progress.
CHECKLIST
On your Academic Evaluation Report , check the following:
__ Completion of 120 credits (bachelor degree minimum)
__ CUM GPA (overall) achieved at SAGE must be a 2.00 or higher
__ Completion of all Major requirements
__ Completion of all LIFE Skills/General Education
__ Completion of Liberal Arts & Sciences requirement (ie, 60cr needed in BS degree)
__ 45 Credits must be completed at SAGE (institutional credits)
__ 1/2 of the total credits in the MAJOR must be completed at SAGE
__ MAJOR GPA (grades in courses required in Major) must be a 2.20 or higher, note: some majors may require a higher major GPA.
HONORS INFORMATION
Summa Cum Laude, Magna Cum Laude, Cum Laude (also known as Latin Honors)
Students must have at least 45 credit hours completed at SAGE in courses 200-level or higher.
- Summa Cum Laude: Sage GPA 3.9 or higher
- Magna Cum Laude: Sage GPA between 3.7 to 3.89
- Cum Laude: Sage GPA between 3.5 and 3.69
Program Honors (in Major)
Students who have attained a high degree of excellence in the work of their respective major subjects, and who have in addition satisfied the requirements prescribed by the department, are awarded program honors. The GPA requirement for program honors is 3.50 based on all required courses for a major program, including support courses and transferred courses. Electives are excluded.
Graduation Ceremonies and Commencement
An Honors Convocation and TSC Commencement Ceremony are held each year at the end of the spring term only. Exact times and dates (typically in May) are available in the Dean's Office, (518) 292-1704.
To be eligible to participate in commencement, students must meet the requirements for graduation by commencement day, or be within two courses of completing their requirements and enrolled in the subsequent summer session(s) or semester at The Sage Colleges.
In addition, an unpaid financial obligation to the College will result in the withholding of the student’s grades, transcript of credits, diploma, and commencement participation.
