Cultural Enrichment + Diversity
The Office of Cultural Enrichment and Diversity is committed to fostering an awareness of cultural diversity that:
- explores perceptions and challenges stereotypes
- encourages collaborative efforts
- empowers students, faculty, administrators and staff to participate in ongoing diversity efforts
- enriches The Sage Colleges experience
Programs and Services
The office provides support and shares close links with the multicultural student organizations on both the Albany and Troy campuses:
- Black and Latino Student Association (BLSA)
- African American, Latino, Desi, Asian, and Native American Alliance (ALDANA)
- Pride and Diversity Club
In addition, as the International Student Advisor, the Coordinator of Cultural Enrichment and Diversity will provide supportive services to the international student population at Sage.
Collaborating with student organizations, student government, the Coordinator of Student Development and Campus Programming (on both campuses), as well as, other offices Cultural Enrichment and Diversity provides an array of services and programs designed to engage all members of the The Sage Colleges community in campus life. Co-sponsored events include, but are not limited to:
- Heritage Month Celebrations
- International Food Festival
- Diversity Networking Reception
- Community Events
- Multicultural Student Leadership Opportunities
- Diversity Workshops
The Coordinator also oversees the Multicultural Center which houses a collection of art, books, artifacts and videos. It is the perfect space for informal small group sessions, club meetings, mentor groups, seminars, receptions, or to just hang out. Students are encouraged and welcome to use the Center.
Quarterly newsletter
The Office of Cultural Enrichment and Diversity produces a quarterly newsletter filled with information about cultural events on and off campus, showcases poetry from students, highlights simple ways to incorporate diversity, introduces readers to traditions and rituals from different cultures and provides a forum for increased dialogue about issues of diversity. In addition, a brochure is being developed.
Religious and Spiritual Life
The Office Cultural Enrichment and Diversity is working with various constituents within the Sage community to create programming aimed at increasing awareness and fostering an environment that welcomes religious and spiritual expression.
