Annual Albany Campus Events
Activities Fair kicks off every semester with food, fun, and a chance to find the many ways you can get involved in campus activities. Come meet a number of different representatives from student clubs and organizations at SCA, take part in the variety of novelty events and enjoy an afternoon of fun and relaxation!
Alcohol Awareness Week happens every third week in October when the Wellness Committee offers a variety of information and awareness programming. The week finishes up on Friday with our annual Oksoberfest event.
Earth Day is a campus-wide annual celebration sponsored by the Science Club. The event raises awareness of many environmental issues by student made exhibits. There is also a series of activities, music and food during this celebration. This event is one of the main highlights of the spring semester.
Family First Series is a bi-annual event to bring families to the campus. It consists of two family events in both the fall and spring semesters. The Family Series is a way to show students and parents the fun events that take place at our college.
International Food Festival is an annual SCA event in December. This event celebrates diversity and ethnic heritage. Come and enjoy the food, music and the sharing of many traditions.
Live Lunch Series provides students an opportunity during the lunch hour to enjoy highly diversity musical entertainment. The music ranges from R&B to Japanese Drum bands, to Mexican Salsa and World Music.
Oksoberfest is an annual event at the conclusion of Alcohol Awareness Week. It is the high point of the week's activities. The mock pub night gives students the opportunity to dance into the evening, win prizes and more while giving them an alternative to going out.
Relay for Life is a fun-filled overnight event designed to celebrate survivorship and raise money for research, advocacy, education and patient services programs of the American Cancer Society. Every Fall Semester the Relay for Life Committee puts together an excellent range of activities and events in the Gym for the whole community.
Sage Carnival is a campus-wide annual event during the last two weeks of classes for students to come and relax before finals start. There are a number of activities to do from seeing the caricature artist to finding out your future by the psychic. There is something for everyone.
Sage Olympics is an annual fall event where students participate in a series of sporting activities including: volleyball, flag football, slip’n’slide kickball and ultimate Frisbee. Sage Olympics also provides a small awards ceremony to conclude the event. The winning team presented with their team’s name on the coveted Sage Cup.
Sage Votes provides nonpartisan information that helps enable the Sage community to become a more informed voter. The events do not necessarily address headline issues but address the issues and concerns of our community.
Town Meeting is a SCA tradition that celebrates the beginning of the academic year. This opening community gathering is an opportunity for students, faculty and administrators to participate in a campus-wide academic discussion of issues relating to higher education.
The Albany campus provides a wide variety of diverse, social, and educational programming throughout the year. Most of the annual events are listed on the calendar pages of this handbook and are advertised on bulletin boards around the campuses.
