Graduate Assistant TSC Undergraduate Admission Responsibilities for the Fall 2008/Spring 2008 semester:
Reports to: Directors of Admission, Russell Sage College
Primary Function: Responsibilities of this administrative position include interviewing, recruitment and travel, application evaluation, and assistance with on campus events. High level communication skills, computer literacy and data analysis are necessary This position will provide operational support to the Office of UG Admission as well assist in on campus recruitment activities.
Position Summary and Qualifications:
The individual in this position will work within a dynamic, collaborative enrollment management environment and be a part of the enrollment team. The individual must be self-directed and team oriented and capable and willing to work toward individual and common institutional goals. Interpersonal skills, especially communication of all types, are necessary. In addition, the successful candidate will be self-directed and team oriented, with a high level of communication skills, computer literacy and data analysis. A consistent weekly work schedule is mandatory for this position.
Typical Tasks include:
I. Recruitment/Prospect Management
a. Time commitment: days, evenings, select Saturday mornings, weekends (as necessary)
b. Sample of Activities might include
1. College day/night attendance
2. High School visits
3. Follow-up on student contacts
4. Special presentations and workshops
II. Application Evaluation
a. Assist territory managers with folder reading process, reading files from assigned geographic regions including re-calculating GPA’s, making missing item phone calls, etc.
b. Assist in performing post-decision follow-up to maximize yield
III. Interviewing
a. Meet with prospective, applied and accepted students per appointment and/or drop-in visits
b. Complete an interview form to ascertain interest in the College and general thoughts about prospective students.
IV. Assist with Special Projects and Market Research
a. Assist the Director of Admission with research, planning and other duties as assigned.
b. Assist with on-campus and off-campus programs including Open Houses, Program Actions Days, Scholarship Days, Overnight Programs, Off-campus interviews, Guidance Counselor events, and other events as assigned.
c. Assist with data entry when needed
d. Assist in the Recruitment, Selection and Training of Tour guides and Student Assistants for RSC and SCA.
V. Providing assistance during peak periods related to office functions

Other Qualifications
• Valid Drivers’ License
• Strong Knowledge base in including Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Written and verbal skills, as well as ability to organize complex information.
• Ability to learn student database (Datatel Colleague)
• Knowledge of web tools
• Strong communication skills
• Sense of humor
