Honoring Our Veterans
HONORING OUR VETERANS: A Quilting Bee of Acknowledgment is a book that chronicles the lives of 189 U.S. Veterans depicted on the Veterans Quilt, a recent project highlighting the service of the men and women of our Armed Forces. Two 10' x 8' quilts were crafted by employees at the Stratton VA Medical Center (VAMC) in Albany, NY with the assistance of local volunteers as part of a project to honor United States Veterans. Initially conceived by Lauren Dunn, a registered nurse with Stratton VAMC, the Veterans Quilt project has gained momentum and continues to inspire those who wish to recognize and pay tribute to the contributions of Veterans all across America. The catalog is being produced through The Sage Colleges as part of a project through their Visual Arts department. Students took the opportunity to partner with Stratton VA Medical Center as a way to both develop their career skills and to recognize those who have served our country, growing the project to include the local community.
Books are available through The Sage Colleges at a cost of $17.50 (shipping included) with proceeds benefiting the Major Helen A. Vartigian USA (Ret.), and Lieutenant Colonel Frances M. Liberty USA (Ret.). Scholarship Fund to benefit U.S. Veterans and their children enrolled at The Sage Colleges, Albany/Troy, NY in the Health Sciences program.
