Sean Tuckey, MA CASAC
Sean Tuckey holds a Master's degree in Counseling and Community Psychology from Sage Graduate School. He is also a Credentialed Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) by the State of New York. In 2008 Sean became a certified trainer in Integrated Treatment for Co-Occurring Disorders by the New York State Office of Alcohol and Substance Abuse Services.
For the last five years, Sean has worked for the Schenectady County Office of Community Services as the Single Point of Access & Assisted Outpatient Treatment Coordinator. Additionally, he works as the forensic mental health liasion for the County Jail and the Mental Health Court Connections team. Since 2008 he has been a member of the New York State Conference of Local Mental Hygiene Directors Veterans Sub-Committee, a component of the Governor's Council on Returning Veterans.
Sean joined the United States Marine Corp in 2000 and served in the Marine Corp reserves for eight years. His reserve unit was activated in 2003 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, serving with D Co, 2nd Tank Bn, 5th Marine Regimental Combat Team during the initial phases of the conflict. During his time in the Marines, Sean served in various billets ranging from Fire Team Leader to Platoon Sergeant. Some of his military awards include; Navy & Marine Corp Achievement Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Presidential Unit Citation, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, National Defense Medal, and Selected Marine Corp Reserve Medal.
For the last 2 years, Sean has presented regionally on working with veterans from a culturally competent perspective, provided oral testimony to the New York Assembly Mental Hygiene & Veterans Affair's committees on Veterans with Co-Occurring Disorders and has been a volunteer for Soldier's Heart, a not for profit veterans agency in Troy, NY.
