The Office of the Provost

The Provost is the college's "second in command" and is responsible for the institution when the president is not available. He serves as chief academic officer and works collaboratively with faculty, department chairs and deans to implement Sage's strategic plan, including a redesign of the curriculum. The Provost's office is located in the Plum Building on the Troy campus and includes:

Terry S. Weiner, Ph.D., Provost

Dr. Weiner came to Sage from Union College in 2009 as the Interim Dean of Sage College of Albany. In the Summer of 2010, Dr. Weiner was appointed to the position of the Provost.

During his time at Union, Weiner was the Chauncey H. Winters Professor of Comparative Social Analysis in the Department of Political Science. He has extensive administrative experience, having served as special assistant to the president at Union College as well as chair of the Political Science Department for seven years. He also served as acting dean of arts and sciences, acting dean of faculty, associate dean of faculty, chair of the Division of Social Sciences, and chair of the Department of Sociology and Anthropology for eight years.

Weiner received his Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of North Carolina, where he also received his M.A. He received his B.A. in Sociology and Secondary Education from the University of Illinois, Chicago.

Upon accepting his appointment as provost, Weiner said, "I am committed to working with the faculty, the administrative team, alumni and students to help us restore Sage to its rightful place among America's leading institutions of higher education."

Kevin R. Stoner, Associate Provost for Assessment, Retention and Institutional Initiatives

In the spring of 2011, the position of Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs was replaced by that of a Associate Provost for Assessment, Retention and Institutional Initiatives. The Associate Provost will be responsible for chairing a retention team, spearheading a new at-risk student profile initiative, and providing leadership and support to Sage's efforts on assessment.
