Best Teaching Moment: Having students make connections between course material and their own lived experiences. It is so powerful and rewarding when students challenge themselves to think critically about how existing research might or might not support their own assumptions and beliefs regarding social phenomena.
Research Interests: My scholarship focuses on the dynamics and implications of men’s violence against women by exploring victims’ physical and psychological health, perceived social support and coping, and use of formal and informal resources. My research involves routine collaboration with other experts and students in the fields of psychology, sociology, public health, and criminal justice. These partnerships strengthen my commitment to studying the interdisciplinary aspects of men’s violence against women, particularly social and institutional responses to it.
