Tonya Moutray, Interim Associate Dean of Russell Sage College and Honors Program Director, joined the faculty of the Sage Colleges in 2006. She completed her PhD in English Literature at the University of Connecticut and her MA at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln.
Her book, Refugee Nuns, the French Revolution, and British Literature and Culture, was published this April (2016) by Routledge Press. She has published her research in periodicals such as European Romantic Review, Victorian Literature and Culture, and Studies in English Literature, 1500-1800.
In 2017, she was a Visiting Fellow at the Chawton House Library in Hampshire, England, which houses Jane Austen’s family library, as well as an array of resources for scholars studying women’s writings in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
Dr. Moutray teaches courses in 18th-21st-century British Literature, Children’s Literature, and the WLD and Honors programs. With WLD colleagues, she has co-authored two chapters in edited collections that focus on the pedagogy, assessment, and learning outcomes of WLD 101/201 and the WLD Series.
With Honors faculty, she adapted the model of the Oxford-Style Tutorial for RSC Honors students, and has made the program accessible to nursing and health science students. She regularly presents with other Honors faculty and students at the National Collegiate Honors Council Conference.
