Russell Sage College’s Occupational Therapy program is registered with the NYS Education Department and accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) of the American Occupational Therapy Association, 6116 Executive Boulevard, Suite 200, North Bethesda, MD 20852-4929. You may contact ACOTE by phone at 301-652-6611 or by visiting www.acoteonline.org.
The most recent reaccreditation was granted in December 2016. Upon graduation, students are eligible to sit for the national certification exam that is administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT). In addition, most states require licensure in order to practice occupational therapy; however state licenses are usually based on the results of the national certification exam. A felony conviction may affect a graduate’s ability to sit for the certification exam or to attain state licensure.
The Program’s overall pass rate for the 2018, 2019 and 2020 time period was 100% (first-time test-takers and test-retakers). Program results from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) are online at https://www.nbcot.org/Educators/Home#SchoolPerformance
Graduation Rate
For the 3 most recent graduating cohorts (entry into OT Master program 2019-2021*) 94% of students progressed to graduation (122 of 130*). While the majority of students enroll in the program full time, some choose a part time track. *Some of the students who entered the program part time in these years are still working toward their degree.
