Graduate Assistant for the Academic Support Center (Troy)
The Academic Support Center office provides graduate assistants with an opportunity to work with the Director of Academic Support to help with coordinating tutoring opportunities for RSC students. Graduate Assistants typically are scheduled to work an average of 10 hours per week. This position offers flexibility with the understanding that there will be adjustments for academic commitments, as approved. All requests to adjust the regular work schedule must be submitted in advance and put in writing/email. All agreed upon hours must be met with an emphasis on punctuality and full completion of shift.
Tutor Coordination: receive and organize tutor requests and tutor applications, match tutors with tutees to accommodate the needs of both the tutor and tutee, create drop-in tutoring sessions for classes in high demand of tutors with a low supply, maintain accurate records of flow of tutors and tutees.
Trend Analysis: assist with providing regular reports to the Director of Academic Support.
Tutoring: offer one-on-one tutoring sessions and study groups as requested by the Director of Academic Support for certain high-need courses. Expertise in science courses (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics) preferred.
Other: organizing large quantities of student data for the Director of Academic Support to allow for a smoother student interview process as well as mid-term warnings. Other duties at the request of superiors in the office based on need.
Qualifications: Minimum cum GPA of 3.25, working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (particularly Word and Excel), spreadsheets, familiarity with Campus Cruiser/Sage Advisor/Moodle, ability to work independently or as a member of a team, good organizational skills.
