MISSION: The mission of the Alumni Association is to engage alumni in programs and activities which advance the colleges and cultivate and retain loyalty and support of its alumni in accordance with institutional goals. In addition to promoting the distinctive value of a students experience by building connections between students & the alumni community.

Michael Markou SGS ’10, President
Michael Markou, dean of students at Bryant and Stratton College, earned his master’s degree in Organization Management at Sage’s School of Management. He has worked in higher education for over nine years and specializes in organizational strategy, student development, effective communication plans, mediation and strategies to maximize success rates.
Carmine Berghela SGS ’09, Vice President
Carmine Berghela is a Budget Analyst at the Office of the State Comptroller, helping to implement and oversee the Comptrollers 290 Million Dollar Budget. Carmine earned a master’s degree in Organization Management with a Public Administration concentration at the School of Management. He participated in the School’s first trip to the Shanghai Institute of Foreign Trade.
Retina Bethea SCA ‘10
Retina is a higher education professional at Cornell University Recreational Services. She is passionate about student affairs and was very involved in extracurricular activities while attending The Sage College of Albany. She was a pioneer for Sage’s Women’s Athletic Program serving as Founder and President of the former Running Club. She earned her degree in Business Administration in 2010 and studied Athletic Administration at The College of Brockport.
While starting her career full time in the financial industry with AYCO-Goldman Sachs, Tammy grew quickly with the firm over the course of 8 years. During this time she was raising her son as a single parent while in college full time evenings at Sage to earn her degrees. She began volunteering for local and national humanitarian organizations which sparked her true passion. In 2008, her career shifted from the world of Wall Street & corporate America to charitable cause-driven work with the YMCA. In her role as Director of Administration in Senior Management she served as right hand to the President & CEO leading efforts to train and develop others into cause-driven leaders while helping those in need in her own community and globally through mission driven service work.
After nearly 8 years with the YMCA an opportunity presented itself to work with students at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in The Lally School of Management. In her current role she connects bright future leaders to industry, helping them grow to reach career goals. Tammy continues to give back to the community through local boards, various events and charitable service work. Tammy earned her MS in Organization Management/Public Administration, BBA in Business Administration & Advanced Certificate in Managing Nonprofit Organizations from The Sage Colleges. She also holds an Advanced International MBA Certificate for her studies on Business in China/Multicultural Analysis from the Shanghai University of International Business and Economics in Shanghai City, China
Mike Cavanaugh JCA ‘72
Retired after a 36 year career with the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation doing public outreach and education on a variety of environmental and natural resource issues. Since retirement, Mike has kept busy doing video production and woodworking. His big avocation, however is kayaking and kayak instruction. He holds an American Canoe Association Level 3 Coastal Kayaking instructor and is certified to teach kayaking to individuals with disabilities. He sits on the Board of Directors of both the American Wildlife Conservation Foundation (National) and the American Canoe Association (New York).
Carol Fairley Rubino SEC ’72, SGS ’75
Carol Fairley Rubino owns Rubino Associates, a firm specializing in training and services focused on strategic and cooperative planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of programs. She was an officer of the Sage Evening Division’s student organization, the first president of the Sage Graduate School Alumni Association and the first chairperson of The Sage Colleges Federated Alumni Association.
Kevin Kraus SGS ’12
Kevin Kraus is a financial representative at The Ayco Company, LP, where he provides guidance with investments, taxes, estate planning, insurances and cash flow. He has over 12 years of experience in sales and client relations. He received his master’s degree in Organization Management from the School of Management.
Mac-Arthur Louis SCA ’06
Mac-Arthur Louis, project manager at Health Research, Inc., coordinates projects and teams for the New York State Department of Health. He has been working in information technology for over 20 years and has expertise in project portfolio management, enterprise application development, business development and process improvement. He graduated cum laude from Sage and earned an MBA at the University at Albany.
Kimberly Margosian SGS ’11
Kimberly Margosian is a 2011 Sage Graduate who earned her Master’s in Public Administration. She also holds a Bachelor’s degree from Siena College in Political Science. Her background consists of over fifteen years in the not for profit world, along with political experience at the NYS Capitol as a Legislative Correspondent during the 2009-2010 budget session. She is currently living in Syracuse working at Onondaga County ARC. Kim believe by attending Sage alumni events it helps to keep her connected while living in Western, NY. By joining the board, she hopes to increase participation of alumni, and help to explore a different array of events for both the Albany area and beyond.
Jolene Miner Dirolf SGS ’85
Jolene recently began as a Sage College Alumni Association board member. Having recently retired after a 30 year career as an advanced practice oncology nurse, Jolene now spends her time traveling, gardening and cooking. She is a volunteer for the National Park Services. Jolene and her husband Jim have resided in Loudonville, NY over 45 years where they raised their three adult sons.
Linda Rolfe JCA ’67
Linda Rolfe worked for the New York State Department of Health for 39 years. She retired in 2005 and now works through a temp agency in the DOH’s Bureau of Employee Relations/Staff Development. She is president of the Certified Professional Secretary/Certified Administrative Professional Society of New York State and a member of the International Association of Administrative Professionals.
