An evening celebrating a true Woman of Influence: Malala Yousafzai.
The extraordinary documentary He Named Me Malala offers an intimate portrait of Nobel Prize Laureate Malala Yousafzai, who was targeted by the Taliban and severely wounded by a gunshot when returning home on her school bus in Pakistan’s Swat Valley.
Malala, at the time just 15 years old, was singled out, along with her father, for advocating for girls’ education, and the attack sparked an outcry from supporters around the world. She miraculously survived and is now a leading campaigner for girls’ education globally.
Deborah Lawrence, Dean of Russell Sage College, will introduce the film.
The screening is free and open to parents, educators, counselors, current students from The Sage Colleges, and students ages 14 and up. Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
Attendees will have an opportunity to enter a raffle for a chance to win DVD copies of He Named Me Malala.
