The Budget: Our Country, Our Values, Our Planet Up for Grabs

Miriam Pemberton, Ph.D.

Dr. Miriam Pemberton directs the Peace Economy Transitions Project at the Institute for Policy Studies and co-edited Lessons from Iraq: Avoiding the Next War with William Hartung. She has commented widely on military vs. climate security and what that means for our country.

Dr. Pemberton comes to Albany as a guest of Women Against War (WAW), a group which brings Capital District women together to work for peace. WAW is based on the belief that war is not the answer to conflict, and that women can lead the way to developing alternatives to violence.

Visit WAW at womenagainstwar.org, on Facebook, or contact them at [email protected].

WORLD is an acronym for Women Owning Responsibility for Learning and Doing, Russell Sage College’s general education program. The program hosts speakers on wide-ranging and complex topics. The talks are free, open to the public, and held in Bush Memorial Center at Russell Sage College.

Contact Sara Schuman, WORLD Program Director, at 518-244- 6890 for more information.
