ALBANY & TROY, NY – The School of Management at The Sage Colleges is pleased to induct the charter class of members into Sage’s chapter of the Sigma Beta Delta International Business Honor Society on Monday, April 3, 2017. Twenty-eight candidates for bachelor’s and master’s degrees in the School of Management will be presented with a pin and certificate.

The Sage Colleges School of Management Chapter of Sigma Beta Delta was installed in May 2016 and provides an opportunity to confer on students at Sage international recognition for their outstanding academic achievements in business, accounting and management programs. Sigma Beta Delta was created 10 years ago as a business honor society for institutions with regional accreditation, and now has over 248 chapters in 46 states and one international institution.

To qualify, a student must rank in the upper 20 percent of their class at the time of invitation to membership, and may be inducted following completion of at least half the degree program in which they are enrolled. While almost 300,000 students receive bachelors or master’s degrees in business each year, only about 4,000 are inducted into Sigma Beta Delta.

“Employers notice an honor society designation on a resume and associate the accomplishment with persistence, initiative, demonstrated performance, and dedication to curiosity and learning,” said Eileen Brownell, Ph.D., associate professor, chair of the undergraduate programs and internship director for the School of Management.
