The Sage Colleges conferred 808 degrees and certificates at its 102nd commencement today, Saturday, May 11, 2019. The ceremony was held at the Houston Field House on the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute campus.

Maya Wiley, a nationally renowned expert on racial justice and equity and the senior vice president for Social Justice at The New School was the commencement speaker.

Wiley has served as Mayor of New York City Bill de Blasio’s chief legal advisor, the founder and president of the Center for Social inclusion, the NAACP Legal Defense & Educational Fund Inc., the American Civil Liberties Union and U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York. Wiley also joined NBC News and MSNBC in 2018 as a legal analyst.

Sage awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Public Service to Wiley.

Today’s ceremony recognized graduates who completed the requirements for bachelor’s degrees, master’s degrees, advanced certificates or doctoral degrees in August 2018, December 2018 or May 2019. Sage’s Class of 2019 hailed from 24 states as well as Canada, Australia and Afghanistan.
