About Caren Kinne
What was most beneficial about your Sage experience when you were a student?
I really appreciate how well-rounded the MAT program is; it not only provided the necessary background of art education and its methodologies and classroom management strategies, etc., but it also incorporates continued personal artistic growth, encouraging the notion of artists as teachers.
How have you utilized what you learned at Sage in your career? Did it prepare you for your field?
In my career in the education department at an art museum, I am constantly utilizing skills learned from my MAT studies at Sage — from instructing hands-on art projects to teaching with artworks in the galleries, making age appropriate lesson plans and modifications or collaborating with teachers in area schools, my time at Sage has left me well prepared for the responsibilities of my position.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
I love that I get to interact with a wide variety of people and age groups. Each day is a different group of people and thus a different experience in the galleries or art-making space. With rotating gallery exhibits, there is always fresh material to work with and be inspired by.
