    Careers

    English for Childhood Education

    This major is designed to accompany the major in Childhood Education for those students who are completing a double major in English and Childhood Education.

    Internships

    You’ll gain experience in the field through internships with a variety of businesses and organizations. Students have interned at Cengage Publishing, the Rensselaer County District Attorney’s Office, the Arts Center of the Capital Region, the Albany Institute of History and Art and more.
    As an English major, you’ll also have opportunities to present at regional and national conferences, such as the National Conference of Undergraduate Research and the National Collegiate Honors Council Conference.

    Recent graduates of the program are financial advisors, media producers, freelance writers, education director at the shaker heritage museum, english tutors, teachers, associate editor, and librarians.

    Once you complete your degree, you’ll be fully prepared for graduate school.     All students are required to do an intensive internship and work alongside amazing local, regional and international companies.     Nursing

    Kick-start your nursing career and prepare for initial licensure with this baccalaureate program.

    Clinical Rotations

    You’ll be introduced to faculty-directed clinicals in our state-of-the-art simulation labs. After you gain experience there, you’ll transition to a variety of clinical settings, including acute and community-based care of the adult (including geriatric), pediatric, maternal/child (including labor and delivery), psychiatric and community populations.

    In the last semester of your capstone practicum, you’ll have the unique opportunity to select an expanded clinical rotation (240 hours) with a patient population of interest. This real-world experience is invaluable and better prepares students for an exciting nursing career.

    After you graduate from the program, you’ll be eligible to take the initial NCLEX-RN licensure examination. Once you successfully pass, you’ll be able to pursue job opportunities across the country. Approximately 95-98% of Russell Sage nursing graduates are employed in diverse health care settings.
