Clinical Rotations
You’ll be introduced to faculty-directed clinicals in our state-of-the-art simulation labs. After you gain experience there, you’ll transition to a variety of clinical settings, including acute and community-based care of the adult (including geriatric), pediatric, maternal/child (including labor and delivery), psychiatric and community populations.
In the last semester of your capstone practicum, you’ll have the unique opportunity to select an expanded clinical rotation (240 hours) with a patient population of interest. This real-world experience is invaluable and better prepares students for an exciting nursing career.

Careers
After you graduate from the program, you’ll be eligible to take the initial NCLEX-RN licensure examination. Once you successfully pass, you’ll be able to pursue job opportunities across the country. Approximately 95-98% of Russell Sage nursing graduates are employed in diverse health care settings.

Students go on to pursue Dietetic Internships, which is the next step to becoming an RD. Registered Dietitians work as part of medical teams to administer medical nutrition therapy in hospitals, private practice or other health care facilities.

The Speech and Language Center
The Speech and Language Center at Russell Sage seeks to empower people with communication disorders and other speech needs. The initial clinical program, the Aphasia Center at Russell Sage, opened in July 2024, with the Gender-Affirming Voice Program launching in February, 2025.
Careers and Graduate Studies
Students will be well-positioned to enter a master’s degree program in speech-language pathology. Once students complete a master’s program and secure licensure, they will find rich job opportunities, as the demand for SLPs nationally is rising.

Opportunities for Students
CSTEP
The Collegiate Science & Technology Entry Program (CSTEP), which is sponsored by the New York State Department of Education, provides paid research experiences, MCAT prep, and other forms of academic support to underrepresented and economically disadvantaged students in Biology, Health Sciences, and other science-related majors or professional programs.
ICAN
The I Can Achieve a Nursing Degree (ICAN) program works within and with marginalized and underrepresented communities to showcase employment opportunities in nursing and healthcare for our youth. These efforts will build a more diverse community of healthcare professionals, improving the quality of care across the spectrum.
The program is a collaborative community mentorship model for underserved youth to achieve a bachelor’s degree in nursing and employment as a professional Registered Nurse (RN). Students in grades 10 through 12 are paired with a diverse group of nursing mentors, who inspire and encourage students along the way.

The Gender-Affirming Voice Program is for gender-diverse individuals who seek to modify their voices to match their identities.

At Russell Sage College, the focus is on practical and applied research – finding innovative ways to apply classroom knowledge and theory to everyday situations.
