As an international student, you bring a new perspective to an already diverse college community. While U.S. industries and job opportunities expand, the demand for talented individuals with your diverse background will continue to grow.
Apply as an International Student if you:
- wish to study in the U.S. under a student visa (F-1), or if you currently hold a F-1 or F-2 visa.
Required Application Materials
- an application submitted via our online application or the Common App
- official transcripts*
- an English proficiency exam, with the following minimum scores if your language of instruction is not English:
- TOEFL (web-based): 85+
- IELTS: 6.5+
- a personal essay on a topic of your choice
Application and I-20 eligibility materials must be submitted by June 1 for fall semester or November 1 for spring.
* If your language of instruction is not English, the transcripts must be evaluated. Visit naces.org or aice-eval.org to see acceptable evaluation services.
Applying for an F-1 Student Visa
- Receive an acceptance letter from Russell Sage College Office of Admission.
- Submit the International Student Financial Form.
- You will need to indicate the finances available to cover the cost of attendance for one academic year (cost of attendance varies and changes per year).
- This form must be accompanied by proof of funding and/or sponsorship.
- A copy of your current passport.
- Once you have completed the Financial Eligibility form and submitted the supporting documents, you will be notified of your I-20 eligibility. Students are not guaranteed an I-20.
- Pay the SEVIS fee and complete the Visa Application.
- Schedule and prepare for your interview with the closest U.S. embassy or consulate.
