In recognition of the men and women in uniform who have served and continue to serve our country, Russell Sage College is dedicated to providing a comprehensive array of programs, support services and advocacy for veterans, active military personnel and their family members.
Applying for Benefits
For Chapters 30, 33*, 1606 and 1607, apply for VA Education Benefits by completing VA Form 22-1990. Applying electronically is faster, but if you prefer a paper application refer to the VA Forms and Resources at the bottom of this page.
For Chapter 35, you must complete VA Form 22-5490. If you prefer a paper application, refer to the VA Forms and Resources at the bottom of this page.
For Chapter 31, you must complete VA Form 22-1900. However, it is advised that you speak with a VA rehabilitation counselor first. To learn more or to apply for Chapter 31 benefits in New York state, call 800-827-1000.
What to Send to Russell Sage College’s VA Certifying Official
- copy of your completed application for Veteran education benefits
- copy of DD-214 (Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty)
- Notice of Basic Eligibility (NOBE), if you are in the Reserves
- Certificate of Eligibility (issued by the Buffalo Regional VA office once a determination on your eligibility is made)
