Russell Sage College is working on a teach-out agreement with The College of Saint Rose, which announced last month that it would be closing at the end of the 2023-2024 academic year.

As stated by Saint Rose on its website, “program alignments are being reviewed by both Saint Rose faculty and faculty at the partner institutions. All teach-out agreements are subject to approval by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.”

Teach-out agreements are designed to create smooth transfer pathways for students between the closing institution and teach-out partner colleges and universities, allowing for undergraduate and graduate students to benefit from having all their credits accepted by their new college, not pay more in tuition, and maintain their degree progress.

“We’re honored to serve as a teach-out partner for Saint Rose during a very difficult time,” said Russell Sage College President Christopher Ames. “Saint Rose’s closure announcement is a loss for the entire Capital Region community. We know that Saint Rose students are excellent students, who desire to make the world a better place through their chosen studies, and ultimately, careers. Our two colleges, set in the heart of Capital Region cities and with similar program offerings, share a similar atmosphere and mission, and we believe Saint Rose students will feel very comfortable at Russell Sage.”

Russell Sage will hold two online sessions for transfer students next week – both for Saint Rose students looking at options for the fall and transfer students from any college. Those sessions will be held Tuesday, January 9, at 1 and 6 p.m. The registration links for the session can be found on the Russell Sage website.
