Exploring a college’s website can be overwhelming. Figuring out when to visit – also overwhelming. And then choosing what type of visit to go to… how do you even decide?
Don’t worry, we have all the information you need to figure out what type of visit is right for you!
Traditional Campus Tour
A campus tour is perfect for both students just starting the college search process and those well on their way to deciding where to attend. First-time visitors will enjoy a tour of campus, with the option to chat with an admission counselor after. There is no pressure – you’ll explore campus and get a feel for what it is like to be a Gator.
For students who have visited before, or even have visited a lot of other colleges, a campus tour is right for you, too! You can tailor your visit to what you need – want to chat with an admission counselor, meet with someone in financial aid, or connect with a faculty member? All of that is possible with a campus tour at Russell Sage. Just let us know ahead of time.
Open House
This is usually one of the first types of college visits that many students go to. Keep in mind, open houses are usually very large with multiple sessions for you to attend throughout the day. They’re very exciting, but if you are looking for a one-on-one meeting, the campus tour is for you!
At an open house, you’ll usually hear from the admission team, faculty in your program of interest, student service departments, and current students. It is a way for prospective students to get a feel for the campus and its current students!
Accepted Student Events
Accepted student events are for students who… are accepted to the college! (Seems logical enough, right?) Once you’ve been accepted, even if you have visited the college already, it is important to do an accepted student visit.
This can consist of:
Accepted Student Day: At Russell Sage, this is a day-long event where you have the opportunity to meet current students and other accepted students, visit with faculty to get all your questions answered, and set up one-on-one appointments with financial aid or the admission team. It is also a day filled with excitement and opportunities to truly learn what it means to be a Gator.
Day Visit: At Sage, this is when you can meet with faculty, attend a class, have lunch in the dining hall with current students. You’ll explore what a day in the life of a current Sage student is.
At any point as an accepted student, you are encouraged to meet with the admission and financial aid team. You can do this with individualized meetings or add it to your campus tour.
Any visit you choose will be a great one, but understanding what you will gain from each is important. If you still have questions about what visit is right for you, reach out to [email protected] to chat with a counselor today.
